In hopes of once again bypassing our set canned food drive goal, Chaparral hosted their 2nd annual Rough and Tough Volleyball Tournament. Last year only five teams participated. This year seventeen teams showed up to flaunt their volleyball skills. “[Rough and Tough] is a good way to raise cans while also having a fun, athletic time,” said senior Blake Giles. “It’s a sport that you don’t really have to know much about, my team [Kiss My Ace] was a mix between volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse players,” said Giles. Junior Sara Breckbill played on The Kat Tilters and said, “It was a lot of fun, I just wish we could’ve played some more.” This year’s fundraiser earned over 1,000 cans that will go to the Parker Task Force. According to senior Dan Formento, also on team Kiss My Ace, “It was fun to compete against all my friends.” The Patriotic Chimichangas were the 2015 Rough and Tough Champions. After surviving each of the single elimination games they faced off in the final against Ashy Elbows and came out with a 25-17 winning score.
