Sources of Strength Getting Down and Dirty During A Work Session

As Chaparral enters the 2016-2017 year, Sources of Strength is pushing their team and framing their future. This club is based around a group of people who come together, striving make the lives and society of others more desirable. Their mission is to “practice youth suicide prevention, using a project designed to harnesses the power of peer social networks to change unhealthy norms and culture, ultimately preventing suicide, bullying, and substance abuse,”said Club Participant Member Natasha Kasprzyk. To bring Sources of Strength closer together, an adjustment has been made to homerooms this school year. Some students have found themselves with a different teacher, and in some cases, in an entirely different setting. This is due to the division of the participants in Sources of Strength. This makes it so they were able to further continue their discussion on “ways to improve our community. This also makes it easier for us high school scholars to meet with the teachers and advisors,” said junior Ryan Crothers. This year the participants of Sources of Strength begin to leave their mark on Chaparral as this will only be their second year as a club. Continuing to attract more attention to their voice and cause, Crothers states that students “can expect great things as [it is] our mission is to make chap Greater.”
