Chaparral High School met Legend High School on the volleyball court last night to determine this year’s champion. The Wolverines won the first match 25-16 and the second 25-23. The players were put to the challenge, though, losing the third match 23-25. The rivals then competed in a fourth, resulting in a Wolverine win 25-17. Each year the anticipation going into the rivalry game grows. Not only do the players feel the excitement, but the fans do too. “It’s a great rush of adrenaline and excitement to cheer from the sidelines. Being a superfan and pumping up the crowd, is a great experience” said senior Walker Martin. The game was close in a few matches, but ultimately Chaparral came out on top, winning three out of the four. Last night was the last home game and senior night. The seniors put it all on the court, as they played their final game in the Wolverine den. “Playing against Legend is always a huge game for us, and it was a great payoff to win. Being a senior it was emotional, but a great game to be a part of,” said senior Kylie Peterson. The seniors left their home court with a victory for all of Chaparral.
