Each year, the Chaparral Varsity Lacrosse team goes to Arizona for spring break. They have to chance to bond as a team through activities like the ASU tour, puzzle building, fortnite tournaments, and team dinners. They also play two Arizona teams to keep up their skills across state. The first game was against Brophy Preparatory. Chaparral won 19-9. They also played in the Cross State Clash against Arizona’s Chaparral Firebirds. The Wolverines also won this game. “I believe we played played good overall, however we did start out pretty slow in both games, but pulled through in the second half to take the win” senior Hunter Rowe explains. This trip also allows the team to grow together. Each day they practiced their skills through drills and typical practice. They have team bonding events each day which include string writing and water balloon fights. The water balloon fight was many of the guys favorite part of the trip because it got the entire team involved and allowed them to bring out their competitive sides. The boys also stay in hotel rooms together. Each room has 4 boys in it. Before the trip, the team communicated with each other to figure out who was bringing gaming systems. With a system in multiple rooms, the team had nightly Fortnite tournaments which lasted for hours on end. Overall this trip allowed the Lacrosse team to bond and grow as team on and off the field. This yearly tradition has once again improved the lacrosse program.
